Alright, i get it...i probably never should of revealed that little tid-bit of knowledge to you all, but seeing as i did...i shall explain:

First of all, I have like a gazillion relatives, 99.9% of them i don't know and have never met. So this year instead of having thanksgiving with the few relatives that i do know that live near me...we go to my cousins...i used to be pretty involved in their lives and talked to them on a semi-regular basis, but i havnt seem them or talked to them in months...making things a little awkward to start.

I thought i'd make a top ten list:

Why Codi is not fond of Thanksgiving.

  1. I like Ham
  2. I don't really know/like almost all of my relatives
  3. I feel shallow watching football while everyone else is talking or making food
  4. I don't like candied yams, sweet potatoes, apple pie, or cranberry sauce
  5. We make a whole day of it, when the meal takes me about 10 minutes
  6. We waste a lot of food, i feel selfish and spoiled...not to mention wasteful
  7. It marks the begining of the holidays...which to me marks the begining of winter...i dont really like the winter
  8. WE CAN GIVE THANKS EVERYDAY, WHY MAKE IT A BORING HOLIDAY?
  9. I cant think of any more
  10. Ha ha, i bet you thought i actually had 10 reasons

So there you have it.

i am not fond of thanksgiving.

I was listening to some old-school Newsboys in my car the other day and the song "Going Public" came on...i had long since forgotten the song, let alone the lyrics. As I listened I was amazed how this song, that was released almost 12 years ago...hits on such a burden in the western church of today. Casting Crowns also has awesome lyrics in a lot of their songs, but im not gonna lie...the newsboys can keep a pretty sweet beat.

she's been dazed and induced
wants a part-time God
for the private use
but she won't take a stand
'cause she might get tagged
as a closet Jesus Fan

The time is drawing near
This is surely a banner year
To be a public witness
Sign on
The lines are drawn and clear
There's no straddling fences here
We're going public with this

he's displaced and unglued
scared that faith in God
could be misconctrued
but the cross makes him wish
that this spine was more
than a school of jellyfish
